Asia and the Pacific Regional Preparatory Process


The timing and venue of this regional 'preparatory committee' meeting was determined in partnership with the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), UNEP Regional office in Asia and the Pacific, and the Secretariat of the World Summit.

    Outcome of the Meeting

    In addition, the Central Asian countries have launched their own efforts at regional cooperation for the World Summit. As part of these regional efforts, The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia held a Regional Roundtable on 16 May 2001, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Centre has also conducted a Review of Progress in the Realization of Agenda 21 in the Central Asian countries.
