The Center for
Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) is an
organization for integrated environmental analysis using
geographic information system and remote sensing, information
technology and databases. Its activities are inter-disciplinary
that address sectors such as water resources, agriculture,
fisheries, environment, engineering, and transportation.
After 10 years of
working as a project, first as the Flood Action Plan (FAP 16 and
19) and then as the Environment and GIS Support Project for
Water Sector Planning (EGIS), CEGIS was transformed into an
independent registered organization on 16th May, 2002 when the
Deed of Trust was signed. It has come into full operation since
1st July, 2002.

The Local
Government Engineering Department (LGED) is playing a pivotal
role in rural infrastructure development. People at large in
rural Bangladesh are now enjoying the benefits of LGED's
different rural development projects. Rural infrastructure
development projects undertaken by LGED are contributing a great
deal towards the socio-economic development in the country along
with the development of communication and market networks.
