The timing and venue of the regional 'preparatory committee' meeting is being determined in partnership with the UN Regional Economic Commission for Europe, UNEP Regional office in Europe and Regional Office in North America, and the Secretariat of the World Summit. Information on new developments on the regional preparations will be provided on this site or by contacting  the above organizations. The following meeting is relevant to the Regional preparatory process:

   Regional Meetings: There will be three intergovernmental PrepComs at the regional level of different scales:

   The ECE Regional Meeting for the World Summit on Sustainable Development, will be convened as a Special Session of the Economic Commission for Europe, at the Palais des Nations, Geneva,  24 - 25 September 2001. This Meeting will serve as the full - fledged European Regional PrepCom, and will include a ministerial roundtable and a multistakeholder dialogue with the participation of NGOs and civil society

Outcomes of the PrepCom: Final Report, Final Statement, Chairman's Summary.

   The European PrepCom will be preceded by a meeting of senior officials of the full ECE member countries, in Geneva,12 - 13 July 2001

   Sub Regional Meetings:

The Central and Eastern European (CEE) "Regional Conference on Sustainable Development - Rio+ 10" was held in Bucharest, Romania, from 27 - 28 June 2001
